Seattle Ridge

I toured over the weather station to knock the rime off. The anemometer is back up and running! I saw one fresh glide avalanche in the bowl below the weather station, and spoke with a group in the parking lot who had remotely triggered an avalanche in Triangle (also called -3) Bowl. Nobody was caught or carried in the avalanche. The avalanche was on a wind-loaded convex roll, and likely involved the layer of surface hoar we noted on the surface last weekend.

Surfaces were quite variable. Many areas still had soft snow, but others had hard wind slabs, firm scoured surfaces, or rime crusts. There was a fresh layer of surface hoar, but the distribution was really spotty and it did not seem like it would make for a widespread problem once buried.
