- <p>Evidence of previous wind loading onto NW-N-E facing slopes from S/SW winds during our recent storm. Some isolated cracking on the damp new snow in my tour</p>
Pit at 10K on a NW aspect showing an entirely faceted snowpack below our new 12cm with a total height of 57cm.
Thin but supportable snow for turning on W-NW facing slopes between 9500’ and 10000’. Head higher for the best snow quality as the new snow was very dense, but just enough for some quick and easy laps.

- <p>While I do not feel that the new 5” of snow is enough to tip the scale yet, I would be concerned and cautious on leeward slopes facing NW-N-E near and above treeline where deeper deposits of snow may have settled into a more cohesive slab on top of our previously faceted and weak snowpack. SW winds will continue to transport snow for the next few days. </p> <p>Snowpack is almost entirely faceted below the new snow. With more snow on the way next week, this will become a problem. </p>
4-5 inches of new snow between 9500’ and 10000’ that was very damp. Even on N facing aspects below 10000’ the snow became damp and heavy in the late afternoon, reminiscent of “sierra cement.” Head up high if you’re looking for soft snow tomorrow.
