Quick report

As we were skinning up Microdot, we observed a naturally triggered, wet loose avalanche that originated from just below Microdot’s peak and ran for 300-400 ft on its south facing aspect. Our estimate was that the slide was around 12-15 ft in width that gradually fanned out as it progressed downslope. This avalanche followed an afternoon of hot, direct sunshine on the snowpack, which also caused some slight solar crusting on the lower angles that we skied. Otherwise, snow was generally soft and fun to ski.
