Snowpack

No formal snowpits were dug because of a lack of snow coverage. Snowpack continues to be sparse and with low coverage. Many patches of bare ground were observed. The snow was most concentrated in high alpine bowls and gullies. Due to the recent warm-up, the snow on the ground was wet with patches of ice.  Until we get a refresh of snowfall, the likelihood of triggering an avalanche remains low. The Chugach State Park might be more conducive to hiking, hunting, trail running, and fat biking right now rather than skiing, split boarding, or snow machining.  I think it would be difficult to find connected snow from the trailhead to many of the bowls in the area.
