Gothic Road to Kebler Road

The thin snow cover has grown quite weak (large faceted grains) where it has survived below treeline, generally on the north half of the compass.   N/ATL, snow coverage spans into more southerly aspects generally at the highest elevations or in the snow-favored Ruby Range/Paradise Divide.  See photos of snow coverage near and west of town.  

A few handpits focusing on east aspects BTL showed the transition from a completely faceted snowpack to a faceted snowpack capped by very thin, soft crust happens right around 90° due east.  Shortly south of that, snow coverage generally disappears except behind tree shadows.  West aspects BTL have somewhat patchier coverage than east, but you can still find continuous weak layers on the shady half of west and on features well shaded by evergreens.
