Quick report

It's still a little dicey in the Eddy mountains for snow based recreation. Possible? Yes. Game on? No.

No signs of instability. Snow was unreactive while riding and stomping around on wind drifted features.

Snowpack

The snowpack is still thin and another couple big storms necessary to call it "game on". Motorized use is restricted to primarily roads. Skiing is possible in select areas, primarily northerly facing aspects where snow depths are greatest. On southerly facing slopes, dirt is showing in some areas. A uniform 1 - 2 feet of snow exists, with drifts to 3 feet deep. Snow on the ground begins near 4,500 feet, but one can drive a bit higher. Parked vehicle on FS17 road a short distance below Tamarack Flat road 41N24Y.
