Gave ourselves wide safety margins by choosing <35° solar terrain with a crust No avalanches observed Experienced frequent whumpfing on wind-affected ridgelines while skinning Experienced frequent minor cracking at feet; just one longer crack observed about a meter in length (pictured) 4" of light dust on crust Didn't measure crust thickness but it was firm in open areas and more breakable in more sheltered areas Light winds mitigated substantial warming of the snow source despite intermittent sun
