Another layer of concern to keep the November facets company. Facets formed beneath a MF crust buried 12/22 was failing easily about 15 cm down. November facets continue to produce inconsistent results. Steep, rocky NE-facing terrain produced moderate to hard ECTP results which keeps us suspicious of this persistent problem. Cracking isolated to wind-loaded features facing east through NW. Shallow wind slabs produced easy failures on a layer of facets formed beneath a MF crust buried 12/22.

5-10 cm (2-4") new snow from previous 48 hours. Minimal wind loading with very little snow available for transport.
Snowpack
We dug three pits today. Two were on the NE part of the compass, one was at 6330', the other was 7640'. The third was S/SW at 7030'. The south pit produced failures (ECTN 16) on a layer of facets formed about 10-15 cm down beneath a MF crust buried 12/22 and within the November facets buried 12/01 (ECTN 27). The low elevation north pit produced easy failures with propagation (ECTP 6) on 0.5 mm facets beneath 12/22 MF crust and failure with no propagation (ECTN 28) near the ground. The upper elevation north pit produced easy failures with propagation (ECTP 8) on facets 15 cm down beneath 12/22 MF crust and ECTP 15 and ECTP 23 55 cm down within the November facets buried 12/01.
