Quick report

Cracking
specific

About 4 inches of new snow had fallen on wind sheltered slopes by my departure at 3:30pm. Up to a foot was observed on wind loaded slopes, but wind slabs had not gained much density yet and didn't extend far downhill yet. Graupel was on top of last night's rain crust and under today's storm snow. Wind loaded test slopes produced shooting cracks, and wind sheltered test slopes produced dry loose sluffs. Visibility was poor, so I couldn't see if any of the avalanche paths along Frog Lake Ridge had failed naturally.
