Quick report

Brisk clear morning in the single digits. We did a couple laps on a NNW aspect, 6800' in the Winter's Corner area. We observed about 6 inches of light dry powder on top of a roughly 4 inch breakable crust layer. Below the crust to the ground was softer snow. Temps came up to the mid 20s around noon. Skied a couple turns on a S aspect and there was no pow, just crust. Total snowpack 2-3 feet, No signs of wind loading on any aspects, nor any cracks or other signs of instability. Found surface hoar in protected areas. We were aware of the November facet problem layer in the Sawtooths and observed satellite images indicating that the north-facing aspects at MCS retained some snow through November. As such we opted to keep the terrain choices conservative.
