Quick report
Started from the Bagley Lakes lot at 10 am, got to Artist Point around 11 and headed for Ptarmigan Ridge. Runnels were deep and on all aspects, found that the snow was schmoo-ier than expected when descending from Artist Point on a south facing slope. Lots of glide cracks on south face of Table still up high, but two areas had released (one D3 and one D2). Some wet slides in this area had occurred as well, seemed like all slides were fairly recent as they crossed over previous skin tracks. While the glide hazard seemed to decline when off the south aspect, there were still wet loose debris piles on a west facing slope and old crowns on north facing slopes. While skinning was not tricky on the low angle slopes, skiing was challenging with the runnels. Final run down Herman Gulch had the best snow of the day, fairly smooth pseudo corn before turning back to frozen runnels once we re-entered the shade.
Avalanche
Lots of glide and wet loose debris, almost all on solar aspects, with some crowns also observed in north-facing shaded aspects. Nothing moved while we were out, but didn’t want to have hung out underneath the many glide cracks on the south side of Table for longer than we had to.
