Went to Blue Lakes area to survey the damage to the snowpack after the recent rain event. Creeks that were passable last week are raging with little icebergs flowing downstream. Meadows were nearly impassable with the water intrusion from swollen streams. We noticed an abandoned sled in a meadow that if not recovered soon, could likely be submerged with the continued forecast highs. The snow was surprisingly supportable for the machines given the "mashed potatoes" consistency. Stepping off would usually result in sinking to your knee or thigh. We targeted low angle terrain in the 7,600' to 8,000' range noticing rain runnels and varied surface depths, especially near tree wells and other obstacles capable of gathering water as it moved downhill. No signs of instability and the temp had risen to 68 degrees by the time we loaded up.
