Quick report

The start zones of the northerly aspects have enough snow in them to last through the season. The recent snow felt like walking through a sandbox. The Idaho facet factory is in full production mode. I took some photos to monitor early-season snowpack coverage. The Cobb ice flow looks marginal for good climbing conditions.

Snowpack

The snowpack depth varies from nothing on the ground for most of the southerly aspects up to around 9,700', where it is a more consistent coverage. The northerly aspects held snow primarily down to the valley floor. At 9300' on a NW aspect, a hand pit showed 30cm (12") of snow. The top 22cm (~9") were heavily faceted snow down to a melt-freeze crust attached to the ground.
