Quick report
Went up the south side of Opportunity Mountain on Tuesday after the first big snow of the season. Snow was patchy after Timothy Meadows until ~4.8k' (<3") and increased in depth above 5.5k'. Coverage and depth varied due to wind affected snowpack and because the slope was south facing. Snow on the surrounding ridges appeared much deeper at comparable/higher elevations. Big Jim, Cape Horn, Ladies, Snowgrass, the Chiwaukums, etc, were all cloaked in a veil of snow/ice. Temps dipped down below the 20s on Monday and Tuesday night at lower elevations (Timothy Meadows and the Chiwaukum Creek Trailhead, respectively). It seemed much colder than forecast. The wind seems to have been southerly (S -> N) according to the satsurugi direction and accumulation in wind sheltered (N) basins.
