- <p>No signs of recent avalanches except for surface instability on very steep slopes. The poor snow structure continues to be biggest concern but in a lot of places seems to be gaining strength. </p>
Travel was from 7400-10,200 ft., west-north facing slopes, slope angles to 38º. Other than quick hand pit and pushing my ski pole into the snowpack I didn't dig around today. The snowpack seems to be adjusting to the weight of the new snow and the buried facets are gaining strength. The snow was well behaved today. The weak interfaces from the two faceting events are the biggest concern with the snowpack.
Snowpack
I would put the today's snow density in the ULTRA low category. The skiing got better as the day went on with up to 4" of new snow on 6"-12" (depending on altitude) of storm snow from the weekend and yesterday. Sloughing of surface snow on very steep slopes.
