Lots of small tree bombs divots from the wind the previous day. 2-3" of new overnight and 2-3" fell while skiing. Ski penetration 10"-18". Cold and light. No cracking under skis until up on the ridge at ~6,600'. Only one whumpf on the ridge. Lots of signs of winds from the East and North. Stiff and slabby on the ridge. Tried a WSW for a few turns and found some stiffness under the fluff so quickly shifted to the WNW aspect off of the finger ridge and all was good again. Fast sluff off of turns. Super light, waist deep turns. Three different runs off of various locations of the ridge with the same basic aspect showed deep, unconsolidated snow. Quick hasty pits show a super fine layer about 5" deep, then another about 5-6" deep with no bridging. (Found with a burp test) The worrisome layer for me is ~20" deep. Shears clean with some effort. There are other weak layers below, but as a solo skier, given what I'm willing to ski right now, they weren't worth chasing after. Light snow and light wind most of the day with periods of brightness in the afternoon.
