Quick report
The upper elevations of the Snake River core fared well from last week's storm. At 8300', there is about 60cm (2') of new snow sitting on top of crusts of varying thickness. The new snow appears to be bonding well to the old interface. We dug two pits. One on a NE aspect and the other on a SE aspect. No propagation in either pit. Here are the test results.
NE
ECTN 27 down 66cm (Feb 2 interface). Failure occurred in small facets below the crust. The new snow is glued to the surface of the crust.
PST 97/104 (End) down 66cm, cut in facets below crust.
SE
ECTN 25 down 55 (Feb 2 interface)

The Jan 4 layer, which consists of moist facets, is buried about 165cm (5.5') deep in this location.
No signs of instability in the new snow. We observed a couple old, blown in crowns of small avalanches that mostly likely ran mid storm (2/7). No significant recent activity observed.Weather

Cold air temperature. Periods of strong sun, then becoming mostly cloudy by 1pm.
Snowpack
Snow surfaces on sunny aspects became moist at around 1pm. We observed very little wind affect on the surface of the new snow. Recent temperature crust to 6,800'.
