Observed this likely natural avalanche (if not remotely triggered by Patrol) in Lake Mary Chutes from Brighton Resort parking lot at approx 0730. Guessing it went during the storm as a result of rapid loading or too heavy of load from this last storm cycle. Didn't want to poke the dragon so I didn't go out there but I'd estimate 3-4' crown, 70-100' wide, E facing. Haven't ridden Brighton in a couple years but I've never seen this face rip. Spooky because it rolled right into a terrain trap and that zone gets a lot of side country access from under prepared users. Stay safe out there.
Forecaster comments- Brighton Ski Patrol does not do any control work outside of their ski area boundaries. Speaking to Brighton Snow Safety they confirmed this was part of a widespread natural cycle that occurred outside of their boundary. If you have questions about the boundaries ask a friendly patroller.
