Quick report
Day off walk in the Swan Range.
- We traveled on foot (slipping, sliding, postholing...) between 5000 and 6550 feet.
- The snowpack at all elevations was either wet or moist.
- We were able to initiate large pinwheels with snowballs.
- Recent activity was limited to a few rollerballs out of steep and rocky terrain.

Temps were above freezing throughout the day. Moderate to strong winds at/near upper elevation ridgelines.
Snowpack
- 3 to 10 inches of wet snow at middle elevations.
- 10+ inches of wet->moist snow above 6000 feet.
- We noticied a very thin and breakable surface crust at around 6200 feet.
- Winds had scoured the snowpack down to a couple inches on south and west-facing ridgelines. Drifted areas held 2+ feet of snow.
