Parks Creek

A visit to the Parks Creek area today provided affirmation to the expected low avalanche danger for below treeline elevations. Snow depths ranged from 80 cm to 125 cm on south aspects at 6,000 feet. Excellent visibility provided the opportunity to scope multiple aspects and elevations of avalanche terrain. There were no signs of instability today, but we found evidence of small cornice collapses. We identified previously formed wind slabs to be bonding well to a supportable crust layer below. The snowpack is healing rapidly, and at this location, mirrored the snowpack of the below treeline snowpack on the Southside of Mount Shasta. Snow surfaces on all aspects and elevations traveled were very wet and sticky. 

No signs of instability observed.
