Quick report
Weather conditions were calm, with minimal wind and pleasant temps. We found the new snow to be low density, largely undisturbed and lacking cohesion throughout the day. In Main Gully, we observed recent avalanche debris at the base that we speculate naturally released near the ridge last night or early this morning. Booting up the gully, the new snow was unconsolidated sitting on the pencil hard crust below all the way to our turnaround at ~4500’. The areas scoured by the avalanche were down to this same crust layer. Hand shears throughout the day provided no results, and pole probing noted no slab activity. Lots of human traffic in the gully today.

Observed soft avalanche debris at the base of Main Gully in GoS. Apparent crown line at the ridgeline, but it was difficult to confirm as visibility was mostly poor. Avalanche debris was about 4 feet deep, and still soft at about noon. Debris terminated before the small hill at the base of the gully.
