Quick report

Aspect
Northeast
Red Flags
Cracking, Collapsing, Poor Snowpack Structure
Elevation
2835 m

Calm wind, warm temps and sun all day, overall beautiful day to be in the mountains. There was some cracking and collapsing in isolated areas. A NE facing pit at 9300 showed HS of 60 cm with easy propagation 30 cm up on top of the November facet layer. While the PWL is going to be around for awhile the good news is coverage is improving and rocks and down trees are starting to cover up. There's still plenty of good snow on low angle slopes out there.

Instability Comment

Dug a on NE at 9300 and found the NFL to be 30cm thick, F hard, that now has a 30cm 4F-F hard slab on top. Test results showed ECTP12 and PST25/100 End, failing at the top of this layer.
