Quick report
Facet pow, melt-freeze crusts, breakable windward, supportable windward... it is all out there! I have seen very minimal signs of instability in the form of rollerballs on steep solars that are not bare.
Weather
Weather has been warm in the sun, much cooler in the shade, with developing cloud layers as the week has progressed.
Snowpack
In the northern parts of our zone near 10,000' on straight north aspects I have seen over 3 meters of snow, but in the southern half of the zone (south of Rock Creek) it is less than 100cm on those same aspects/elevations. However, across the zone I have dug in on north aspects and looked for the rain crust and, when present, have seen the crust itself getting weaker compared to earlier in the month, and have seen facets rounding above this crust, and mostly rounds below the crust. Above treeline and on northern aspects (the only aspects I have traveled ATL) I have found either firm windboard on exposed slopes and near Ridgeline, or in mid-slope chutes deep large facets buried at the base of the snowpack... making booting up things just a blast! Straight south aspects above treeline are melting out, completely in some areas. North-Northeast aspects near and below tree line, especially those that are shaded, are holding surprisingly cold snow that is faceting in the top 10-30cm. I have observed saltation on these aspects across the zone, some days enough to fill in the skin track from just an hour before (see pics).
