Exploratory whumphing in the Southern Jed Smith today. Should you find yourself breaking trail, perhaps through fields that have yet to feel skis in the 23/24 winter, the whumphs are omnipresent and far-reaching. The culprit? Five cm's of well-developed 2-3mm facets sitting above the infamous and elusive Westslope Rain Crust from early November (it's real). ECTP22 down 60cms on this nefarious void in an otherwise consolidated snowpack. HS 82cm at 8300' WSW aspect.
