Quick report
Got an early start before the forecasted uptick in wind. Wind increased around 11:00 out of the SW 15-20mph with higher gusts. Active transport of snow was observed after this time, predominately above 9,500'. Didn't find any reactive wind slabs and avoided obviously wind loaded pockets in higher elevations. Wind is forecasted to remain steady and increase tomorrow. Expect wind slabs to build lower in elevation than previous days and more widespread. Plenty of snow available for transport as cloud cover and coldish temperatures have kept the recent snow low density. Around 20cm (8")of recent snow near 8500' increasing to 30-35cm (12-14") above 9500' with pockets of wind drifted snow over 40cm (16") deep. Melt freeze crust again found up to 10,500' on S/SE aspects buried 3/21. Intermittent snow showers with minimal accumulation. South aspects still held low density snow without much solar influence (overcast to broken cloud cover today). Recent snow is beginning to bond better to the melt freeze crust since two days ago. Still keep the poor new to old interface on your mind if riding steep terrain where a crust exists below new snow. Less dry loose and sloughing observed today vs previous days.
The combination of incoming snowfall with increasing wind will create more instability of new and recent snow. We'll see how forecasted snow totals and wind speed shake out tonight and tomorrow.
