Quick report

Yet another melt-freeze layer to add to our crusty snowpack. We found a 2-inch, generally supportable crust with just a dusting of soft snow on top, where we travelled. We dug two pits on a Northern aspect at 7500' and found about 3 feet of total snow. We found the 12/26 crust a little over a foot down, and the 12/18 crust about a foot-and-a-half down. The 12/18 crust was several inches thick and largely ice. We did find some facets (weak sugary snow) at the ground, but it would take a lot of force to break through the upper crusts and impact them.

Temps were finally below freezing today. We encountered some snow flurries through the morning, but the combined total from last night and this morning seemed like less than an inch. Winds were light to moderate from the South. A little bit of snow was moving in the wind, but there was not much snoft snow to transport.
