Quick report
Skied Flagpole today, descending around 10 am. We chose a line that was almost due East facing, with sections of SE and NE tilt. Our uptrack also was on predominantly NE facing terrain. Shady slopes still held an inch or two of recent storm snow atop facets, with firmer surfaces below that. The uppermost snowfield of our line tilted SE, and here the snow was homogenous, with the recent storm snow already consolidated. This had started to soften and was quite pleasant. Lower on the line, true East slopes also had already gone through a melt-freeze cycle since the small storm, but were still mostly firm, but edgeable when we descended due to the more indirect sun angle. Cool temperatures greeted us this morning at the car, with a reading of 21 F when we left the car around 8, and in the low 40s when we got back around 1030. There was some very thin cloud cover filtering the sunlight, but this started to burn off by mid morning. We also observed almost zero wind today.
