Overcast skies with occasional trace of snowfall. Temperatures were warm throughout the day with the vehicle reading 40F at the parking lot. Winds were calm occasionally gusting to light out of the NW.
Snowpack
At 9100' on a NE aspect HS 107cm. Pit results: ECTP27 and PST 74/100 END both failing on buried surface hoar 47cm down. Noted a boot penetration of ~10cm on all aspects and elevations, except for snow in heavily forested terrain below 8500' (here snow was moist and unsupportable). On solar aspects at high elevations, a weak (4F-) melt-freeze crust has formed with ~10cm of moist snow below. HS on solar aspects varied between 50 -75 cm.
