Wind Loading, Cracking, Collapsing, Poor Snowpack Structure

Went for a quick late afternoon tour up to the small ridge that leads up to beavers envy from the Sink Hollow lot. Skinned up low angle trees and as soon as we hit the ridge at 7800 we got major collapsing and shooting cracks. The East side of the ridge was heavily wind-loaded with some decent cornice buildup. If I got closer with all the shooting cracks, some going as far as about 30 ft, I probably could have got the slope to go. We traversed south keeping away from the corniced edge but were getting huge collapses and cracks well onto the west side of the ridge down to about 7600 ft. The circle zone in the photo show the approximate area of the collapsing snow pack.
