Was making my way up Powder Park 1 via the gentle ridge on the west flank when I heard a "whoomf" as the snow pack collapsed around me. Since I was in a safe spot I decided to dig a pit before making my way down.
New snow was around 4-6cm with small graupel mixed in.This might become a bigger problem as current down-scaled NAEFS snow fall guidance from the University of Utah is indicating 10-20 inches of snow over this coming week. Found the culprit of my "whoomf" sound; as expected it was the hard slab over weak, faceted snow. Performed an ECT test for the practice but the slope was too shallow to get a response.
