Was skiing down the north side of 25 short with the hopes of skiing broken thumb couloir. Snow was sugary facets for the first few hundred feet off the summit before becoming more wind effected as we continued. About 400 feet down from the summit we stopped to assess the conditions. Upon giving the snowpack a moderate stomp, we observed cracking. With another firm stomp, we broke off a wind slab. Propagated about 3 feet and was about 4-5 inches deep. Slope angle was ~30 degrees?. We turned around and skinned back up to the summit of 25 short without issue.
