Observations taken as part of an AST1 course. Compression test result indicated moderate results (numerous tests all consistent) on north aspects. Pops and drops at 35 cm from the surface, just above December ice crust. Have a look at the photos to see the result - numerous smaller wind slab layers separating while digging. Conditions generally wind affected on all aspects with shallow snow. No fresh snow observed.
