Glacier NP, Going to the Sun Rd, Redrock slide path.

We were again the Avalanche area around midday. Temps just below freezing. Mixed precipitation, mostly snow. Calm winds. Yesterday this area saw warm temps above freezing and some sun. Did observe an avalanche on the Glacier Wall, east aspect, low elevation that we did not notice on our way into Logan Creek on Sunday. Otherwise we did not hear or observe any other Avalanche activity today.

Follow-up from observation on 2/23. While westbound on GTSR we came across the Redrock slide path again to find it had slid at least one more time since 2/23. Debris field has at least doubled in width and depth. Most likely occurred Sunday afternoon or yesterday. McDonald Creek was completely dammed for an unknown time period but is now flowing and has created a snow bridge. Again, west aspect of Mt Cannon, natural trigger, can not see point of origin. No one caught. Toe of avalanche is at least 150’ wide and 30-40+ feet deep. 10 year trees in debris. Crossing the debris was more hazardous. Crevasses exist where it rolls over the road and into the creek.
