Poor visibility made identification difficult. We were able to make out a wide crown about 30' below the ridge. This was not the typical cornice fall/trigger avalanche that occurs regularly here in this bowl. It appears that this slab avalanche failed from being overloaded with wind drifted snow. Given the current known snowpack structure, this most likely broke into weak facets near the ground.

There was another smaller pocket that released about 300 yards to the east of the bigger wider avalanche above.
