Quick report
Went out to Ball/BT yesterday. The previous day warmed up in the afternoon and there was a thin rain “skin” pretty much everywhere up to about 8k (top of Ball). Ran into someone who dug on E-ish aspect top of Ball and found the previously reported surface hoar layer down about 20cm. The new wet snow seemed to be bonded pretty well and non-reactive from what we saw. We rode off the NE aspect in pretty decent snow except for that rain skin. Above 8k it was better. On BT we found excellent settled pow below the ramp, and good warm pow in A la mode. There was a crown with some debris at the bottom of Pucker as previously reported. 2 skiers rode it and reported good snow, and that it looked like the slide/crowns were triggered from cornice fall probably during the previous day’s storm, kinda low-res pic attached. This is all changing massively now, but good to know what’s under there...
