North Park

Above average temperatures for Feb 5th and down right hot on the skintrack (minimal wind up to 10,600'). Snow surfaces warmed early in the day on east through south aspects. North titled terrain still held cold snow. Plenty of rollerballs out there, sticky suction surfaces formed by afternoon. We did not see any significant wet loose avalanches (aside from Teewinot cirque already reported). Wet loose avalanches were likely isolated to very steep terrain around rock features and gullies trapping heat and sheltered from the wind. 

Warming temperatures will help decrease the distribution of faceted snow currently on the surface. This will create a more scattered distribution once we get snow next week. Intense warming was penetrating ~6-8" deep through the snow on E-S below 9500'. Faceted snow ~8" deep on N aspects. Old wind board above 9500', with sastrugi on windward slopes and above treeline. Keep tracking snow surfaces and changes through the weekend as the next potential weak layer gets buried...
