Do It Trees

2-3" of new snow overnight at 8,400'. Calm conditions with no evidence of wind transport at this elevation.

Dug on a NNE facing slope at 8,400'. Total height of snow = 205cm (~7'). The snow since 2/2 is 70cm (27") deep. It has settled into more of a cohesive slab, but is still relatively soft. The upper half is fist hard while the lower half is four finger hard. The slab is sitting on top of a 2cm (1") thick melt freeze crust. I found some surface hoar on top of the crust but it is not well preserved. No propagation on this interface was observed in pit tests.

ECTN 19 down 70cm on crust. The slab failed above the crust.

PST 102/105 (SF) down 70cm on top of crust. The slab fracture stopped about a third of the way up the column.

The January 4th interface is 150cm (5') down from the surface. 

Some loose sluffing in steeper terrain but no other signs of instability.
