Quick report

Cracking
specific

A beautiful sunny day after the storm with a lot of avalanche activity. There was widespread evidence of wind loading on N facing slopes on table mountain, and cross loading on NE aspects on Mt herman. Wind slabs were especially reactive in the morning: I observed 3 different skiier triggered wind slabs by 10:30am. This did not stop folks from trying their luck as tracks continued to be laid down next to the avalanches. I stuck to mellower terrain and observed widespread cracking in Iceberg trees on a 2” crust layer ~15” deep. Clear skies caused a gradual warming, and by 2pm the steep E facing slopes of mt herman were releasing loose wet avalanches.
