Quick report
Toured into Little Sheep from the Redmont shelter on Tuesday 14 March. Received significant wind and warmth Sunday and Monday. Monday night the temperature dropped, the wind died down, and 8-10" fresh snow fell. Originally planned on skiing the fan feature in the middle of the basin thinking it might have been protected by the tall surrounding peaks and its north aspect. The morning started clear and calm, then another front moved in with winds that led to dense and wet snow falling throughout the afternoon. Performed an ECT at 8000' on a 30 degree slope with a NNW aspect and had a resistant planar break on hit 13 about 25cm down (ECTP13+1). Also observed a weaker layer about a meter down and performed a saw test that propagated after 30cm (PST 30/100 END down 100cm). We chose to stay out of avy terrain after these results as there were rock bands, signs of windloading on certain aspects, and heavier snow on the way.
