Mostly cloudy becoming more sun than cloud by the afternoon. No wind. Beautiful day in the mountains! Mostly 8-12" of snow on a refreezing, easily edgeable crust. Variable distribution particularly near Ridgeline with isolated areas of frust exposure and drifts up to 2 ft deep above the crust. HS 120 cm on a S aspect of Table Mtn at 5100 ft. Widespread wind wind textured snow seen from afar. We encountered some firm snow near ridgelines, but we avoided most wind slabs on more specific terrain features near table mountain. Snow remained cold and dry on SSE aspects until noon, when the sun came out, initiating minor point releases. Minimal wind effect on the SSE slopes ot Table with high quality right-side-up F snow transitioning to F- closer to the crust. Old wet avalanche debris was fairly widespread and a hazard. Many early season hazards still present including boulders, creeks, stumps, etc.
Avalanche
2 D1 rider triggered wind slabs on Newt's Chutes observed from afar. Several wet loose avalanches up to size 1 on W and S aspects of Table. In several cases point releases triggered very shallow soft slabs.
