Quick report
- Cracking
- widespread
- Collapsing
- isolated
Overall a complex snowpack with the addition of new snow this week. My concern is that the PWL will need time to adjust to the new load from the storm and wind loaded snow. In addition we now and we now have storm and wind slab issues. I'm traveling as per the upper realm of Considerable hazard. The topic on conversation today was the imp[ortance of appreciating low angle terrain if one wants to be an old BC skier. Cracking was mostly "soft" i.e., did not propagate very far. Some collapsing while breaking trail, including following an old skin track that has been used over the last month.

Pretty Damn Western! Cold and windy with heavy snow (S2+) at times. Had to rebreak our skintrack on the 2nd run.
Snowpack
Mixed bag, much of it was wind affected above 7,000'. Damp below 7,000' in protected areas. I was unable to isolate pole columns.
Avalanche
Many small avalanches in the D0.5 to D1 size on roadcuts and terrain features such as creek banks etc. 6-8" or so deep new storm snow only. Widespread.
