Quick report

Toured from the Pyramid Pass road up towards Marshall Mountain via the Crescent Lake trail. Low tide especially under 6300 feet. Snow was light and fluffy in the dense trees and wind buffed on exposed ridges. Mountain weather was mostly cloudy and calm with a gentle breeze on the ridges, temperature range from 20 degrees at the summit and 32 degrees in the valleys. Dug a pit at 7800 feet on a 32 degree slope under a cliff band to determine if we could traverse the west aspect and ski a north facing shot into Crescent lake. Snowpit West aspect was 55cm in depth. Wind slab on top of buried facets. ECTP 9 @ 25cm Snowpit on South aspect was 70cm in depth and close to the ridgeline. Snow was much more consolidated with 1 finger hardness at the ground to 4 finger near the surface. ECTX We skied south aspect twice with no obvious signs of instabilities. We weren’t confident in the snowpack so we kept the slope angle under 30 degrees. Overall a fun day skiing with soft snow.
