Quick report

Different day, same weak snowpack structure. Toured from wmr up the summer trail. Quick pit at 6500ft SSE aspect: ECTP 7 Failed on Jan crust topped w/ SH & facets The surface (new) snow was unconsolidated, with the 30ish cm above the Jan crust layer a bit more “firm” (4 finger hardness). We repeated the ECT and saw propagation w/ light force the 2nd time around… The persistent slab problem keeps me in a conservative “mellow pow” mindset. We did not want to get caught off guard finding a slab over the obvious pore structure in our snowpack. We skied lower angle terrain to manage the snowpack uncertainty and to avoid compounding issues due yo the cold air temps.
