Quick report
Tracklog (of marginal utility), pictures (even less so), and captions (ditto) are posted here: https://www.strava.com/activities/11488462508 Alas, my prediction of ~800’ vertical with no portages was close but not quite right, as out of the nearly 1,200' vertical full length from exactly a week ago: - Lower 1/3, seemed to be brushed out as viewed from the rim of the Great Gulf (so that predication was spot-on). - Middle 1/3, which had the most width last week, still looked good from the rim of Great Gulf (ditto). - Top 1/3, which was narrow last week, is now far more narrow, just barely narrow enough for real skiing (ditto). However, the connection between the top 1/3 and middle 1/3 requires a short portage, and then after that looked like a schwacky section, but didn't have good line of sight on that part. So I opted for going back up each time for additional 400' vert laps, rather than trying to link up ~800' vert laps. And of that top 1/3, about halfway down required a bit of sidestepping and/or traversing and/or sideslipping and/or straightlining (many combinations are possible!). But might be a serious discontinuity in another couple days, thereby reducing the line to novelty skiing (unless you’re really into downhiking to link together a longer descent).
