Quick report

Went into Alexander Basin today for the first time this season. I walked, skinned, and bushwacked my way up through Bowman and Yellow Jacket. Snow was really hit and miss up to around 8000, where travel eased a bit. Found almost every type of snow surface. Plenty of powder still left if your willing to pay the price. Exited out of Alexander down to the road, and only had to walk the last part of the trail, then had a nice glide back to the winter gate.

This zone had seen previous wind damage, but the cold nights had started to decompose the old wind slab, which made for fun riding conditions.

Of course very low tide conditions in Millcreek

Snowpack

Wind board in the higher elevations of Alexander have started to facet out, which made for a nice riding surface.

Plenty of 5-7mm surface hoar in all the protected places.

Lots of loose  faceted snow above 8500'
