Quick report

For anyone interested in conditions in the Lolo peak zone: Walked a little over a mile from TH to ~7000ft before transition to skis. Light rain at all elevations in the morning. Surprisingly low snow by the lake, especially on south aspects that were basically bare. Easy skinning conditions, we were able to skin all the way to the north summit. No signs of recent wet slides were observed on the terrain we traveled through. But did see recent wet slide activity on the E aspects of lolo peak proper, presumably from cornice fall. We skied down the NE face of the N summit, and it skied surprisingly well despite the rain and lack of refreeze. Snow immediately got grabby by the lake and the descent down Carlton ridge was slow going and slushy. All in all a great day, but the snow is melting fast up there.
