Quick report
There wasn’t many preceding signs (eg rollerballs) though as the sun hit the rime ice, ice did start the fall. I cautioned multiple climbers that arrived later in the day of the recent activity.
Avalanche
Multiple Avalanches 3-16-24: Did not witness the avalanche (D2, perhaps larger), but talked to SAR and saw the debris field the next day, large avalanche that apparently caught and carried at least 2 individuals. Slide happened around 6PM, SAR arrived at the Timberline lodge around 9PM. 3-17-24: Observed two smaller avalanches, first one was a D1 that was caused by falling ice that hit snowpack, sending snow and ice down (climbers left) of the Old Chute towards the fumarole. I saw this one as it happened, no one was injured, and it occurred shortly after the sun started hitting this aspect, in the morning. Perhaps an hour later, what appeared to be a wet slide (D1.5/2?) triggered in the old chute, I was still in the general area but could not tell if there were any injuries. This also happened as the sun hit this part of the slopes, as the sun moved across the face.
