Quick report
I found a relatively continuous 50-60 cm (20-24 inch) thick snowpack draped over the landscape on slopes that didn’t face the sun. There were two prominent layers in the snowpack. Both are visible in the pit photo. The graupel layer was down about 20cm (8 inches) and the crust formed by warm weather late in October was down about 40cm (16 inches) from the surface. The snow near the ground was moist and appeared to have begun to facet earlier in its lifespan. As the snowpack deepened, this process reversed and the somewhat faceted grains were now showing signs of rounding.
Avalanche
I observed a few thin but wide crowns on the N/NE side of Copper. Based on snowpack observations these likely failed near the new/old interface (11/13 interface), likely on a layer of graupel.
