Tucks

Skinned into Tucks at 1030 am to scout and take advantage of the sunny skies. We dug a pit on the skirt under Lobster Claw and found 160cm of snow with 1 finger slab overlying four finger and fist stratigraphy. Could not get the overlying 60cm slab to propagate or detach (ECTX) but rather observed limited propagation at the interface between two wind slabs within that 60cm layer. Proceeded to tour around the skirt, with the overall theme being extreme heterogeneity between deep, pillowy snow, avy debris, scour and ice. Also experienced limited whoomphing, isolated cracking, active wind transport (even into the afternoon, surprisingly). The variability made it hard to mitigate risk and we turned around. If anyone finds a red Blue Ice ice ax on the lobster skirt or in the trees above Little Head Wall, can you please leave it at the Pinkham visitor front desk? Thanks!
