Quick report

Snowpack appeared to have stabilized by Saturday following the Wednesday/Thursday storm although we have to assume there are always weaker faceted layers underneath the Eastern Alaska Range snowpack. No collapsing or shooting cracks seen. Weather was clear with a light wind (no snow transport).

Avalanche

Recent avalanches observed on mostly south facing aspects. Approx. 4,000’ to 6,000’ elevation. Suspect these were several days old, like naturally triggered after last Wednesday’s snow/wind storm. Wind guests were measured up to 40mph at Look Eyrie weather station. Avalanches were relatively small, all propagating of varying distance across faces.
